We advise you to clean and maintain your PIHKA products regularly to keep them looking good and in good condition. You can easily take care of your shoes and bags at home by cleaning them and using conditioners.
Leather care
Top- and full-grain leather
You can recognize top- and full-grain leather by their smooth and even surface. With the exception of the Roihu and Hupi bags in our PIHKA x Jenni collection, all PIHKA bags are made of top- or full-grain leather. The Roihu and Hupi bags in black and cognac have a nubuck flap on the front.
Before using any conditioner on your leather product, clean the surface with a leather cleaner. We recommend Collonil’s Bamboo Lotion, which is eco-friendly and suitable for all types of leather except high-gloss leather. Before you apply the lotion to the entire surface of your leather product, test it first on an inconspicuous area. Spray the lotion on the surface, spread it evenly with a soft cloth and let it dry for approximately 30 minutes.
After cleansing, protect the leather surface with Collonil’s Gel or Collonil’s Protect & Care waterproofing spray, which is suitable for all lather surfaces. With both products, apply the product evenly on the leather surface with a soft cloth. Let it dry for approximately 30 minutes and then polish the surface with a soft cloth.
Top- and full-grain leather can also be conditioned and protected with shoe grease or care waxes. Apply the product with a shoe brush or soft cloth, let it dry for approximately 30 minutes and then polish the surface with a soft cloth. Use black shoe grease for black leather and clear shoe grease for other colours. When dyeing or waxing your bag, make sure that the treated surface is completely dry and polished before using the product to avoid staining your clothing.
Split leather
You can recognize split leather for its sanded, napped surface.
Before using any conditioner on your leather product, clean the surface with a leather cleaner. Split leather can be treated with Collonil’s Nubuk + Textile conditioning liquid, which protects and nourishes the surface of leather and refreshes the original colour. Apply the conditioner evenly and let it dry for approximately 30 minutes. You can also use coloured conditioners for colour refreshing. Finish the treatment by brushing the surface to lift the light nap.
You can also protect the surface of split leather from dirt and moisture with Collonil’s Protect & Care waterproofing spray, which is suitable for all lather surfaces. Spray the lotion on the surface, spread it evenly with a soft cloth and let it dry for approximately 30 minutes. Finish the treatment by brushing the surface to lift the light nap.
